Q. What’s gets you up in the morning?
A. Usually my little doggie Lulu. But I am not a morning person, I will openly admit it! I am one of those people who usually snooze around 7 times before I can drag myself up. I get up to live every day as positively as possible, I love waking up to the sunshine, I love knowing that I can walk into an office and a job that I enjoy. I love knowing I am healthy. That is a blessing for me.
Q. Three things that inspire you?
A. I think I find a little bit of inspiration every day. It feels like from one week to the next there are so many new things happening that I find it tough to identify only 3! We live in a place where the majority of us can get wrapped up in a bubble of bright lights, shiny buildings and glamour. My life has been blessed with people who have inspired me to be the person I am today, my aunt for example was an amazing pianist and singer ( I developed my love of music from hearing her), my dad was a provider and showed me unconditional love, which I hope to do for my own children one day. My mother inspires and guides me, she has always been an amazing listener, and I love that quality about her. Both my parents have always supported me whatever I have wanted to do or be, and inspired me to be independent.
Q. Why do you love your job?
A. I love being able to use my choices, values and experiences in everything I do. I love being part of a company where I am relaxed, valued and also challenged. I like to have fun around the office, I have people at work who are my dearest friends – and I feel that is rare in a job! Respecting each other, and listening, is also difficult to find in any job.
Q. What appeals to you most about weddings?
A. I am fascinated by relationships of all types, happy ones, complicated ones, controversial ones – it is beautiful that we are all different, and all have something to give and offer. Meeting the various brides and grooms makes me happy, I like hearing their stories – I’m a sucker for romance! It makes me feel as if I’m part of something so special, this day that the couple will remember for their lifetimes. To be able to help them in any part of the planning and also being able to use the amazing Studio team to capture their moments is priceless.
Q.What are your favourite wedding venues in Dubai?
A. Oh, wow – we are SOOOO spoilt for choice in the UAE, but I’d have to say that Al Qasr beach is one of my favourites. The place creates a picturesque romantic background for any wedding or event. It also has the Burj Al Arab featured close by so is ideal for those who are just visiting Dubai to get married. Another great venue is The Desert Palm resort. It’s intimate, pretty and also offers a green lawn and plethora of lovely plants and flowers.
Q. Any hilarious moments on the job?
A. I can’t really think of anything (yet!) which is hilariously funny. Usually the weddings I am part of are so well organized – there is rarely anything overtly funny!
Q. Hobby worth noting?
A. I like going to the gym and attend a flywheel class once a week. I also have a band and we play at Blue Bar in the Novotel Trade Centre every Thursday night. Come check us out, were amazing!
Q. Tell us more about your band??
A. We’re called Sound City. We’re a cover band with over 10 years of experience. We’ve played in Asia & the Middle East and currently we’re based out of Dubai, offering a dynamic show of some of the most upbeat and danceable music of the past 50 years.
We can do all kinds of covers, for any events or occasion, including weddings, private parties, corporate events, and club performances. Anything really! From old classics such as Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Stevie Wonder, Bryan Adams or Bob Marley to modern songs like Sia, James Bay, Rihanna, One Republic, Magic!, Evanescence, Adele or Cold Play.
All of our band members are incredible musicians, hailing from the UK, New Zealand and across Canada.
