We volunteered our services to Create Hub Gallery GM, Lidija Kostic Khachaturian, to help capture an evening at her home that aimed to raise awareness for a very worthy cause called ASEM (a French acronym for “Association Pour Les Enfants de Mozambique i.e. Association for the Children of Mozambique).
Lidjia was inspired by ASEM when she chanced upon the organisations founder, Barbara Hofmann, at the airport during one her trips to Africa. She subsequently held a small gathering, ‘Art Africa Exhibition’ showcasing arts and crafts from Africa so that she could introduce her friends and family to Barbara.
Our photographer Jannah Whalley, originally from South Africa, felt compelled to support this African charity and attended the event.
Guests arrived and were given the opportunity to view the works exhibited, and then Barbara was invited as a guest speaker to tell her story.
It was absolutely fascinating to hear Barbara’s story of how she ended up in Mozambique, and of all the incredible things she’s done for so many children in the country. It was truly inspirational, heartfelt and moving.
Here’s Barbara speaking at the TEDxAmsterdamWomen.
If you feel inspired to help there is no such thing as a small donation – every little donation will help. For more information visit their website.
