One of the companies in our group, arabianEye, ran an amazing Dubai photography competition called ‘Click Ramadan’ on Instagram. The number of entries were staggering, with 800+ images being submitted during the holy month that were all of such an incredible caliber we encourage you to take at look at them.
The competition was open to all UAE residents, and an arabianEye contributor, Issa Saleh Al Kindy, was the judge of the competition. His task was not an easy one!
The winning image was taken by Mario Cardenas. The image is of Iftar on the 1st day of Ramadan at Niujie Mosque, Xicheng District, Beijing, China. It’s the spiritual centre for around 10,000 Muslims living in the vicinity and is also the biggest and oldest Muslim Community in Beijing.
We really appreciated the criteria that Issa used to judge the competition. The composition and symmetry of the people in a very natural moment were what caught his attention, along with the way that Mario’s image depicted Ramadan through fresh eyes, away from the largely cliché images that one usually use to depict the holy month.
